MINNEAPOLIS — On the first day of single-game ticket sales, a problem with a computer server left hundreds of Twins fans empty handed.

The Star Tribune reports that an unprecedented number of fans tried to buy tickets online Saturday, but server glitches and website repairs appeared to kick people out of line.

Twins spokesman Kevin Smith says despite the problem, tickets were selling at a pace that hasn’t been seen since the 1987 World Series.

Smith estimates a few hundred users encountered the problem. He says the issue was likely a combination of demand and technical issues. He says hundreds of thousands of tickets are still available.

The Twins’ ticket office is open until 4 p.m. Sunday.
