BLOOMINGTON — Albert Lea senior Alyssa Sager made the back end of two free throws Wednesday to score the 1,000th and final point of her varsity career as the Tigers girls’ basketball team lost 91-57 at Red Wing in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AAA tournament.
Sager finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds but the Tigers couldn’t overcome a 56-25 halftime deficit.
Red Wing’s coach Kraig Ulveling called a timeout after Sager hit 1,000 to give her a moment to celebrate.
The Tigers shot 21-of-63 from the field including an 0-for-9 night from the 3-point line. Red Wing shot 28-of-69.
Brittani Zuniga added 12 points and two steals for the Tigers and Skyler Anderson chipped in fiver points and four rebounds.
The loss marked the final career game for four seniors: Sager, Anderson, Taylor Friehl and Emily Stoneking.
