New Prague ends Albert Lea’s season

The Albert Lea Tigers boys’ basketball team’s season came to an end Wednesday with a 68-43 loss at the New Prague Trojans in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AAA tournament.

The second-seeded Trojans (21-6, 10-4 Missota) led 9-0 early and 34-23 at halftime before outscoring the seventh-seeded Tigers (6-19, 3-15 Big Nine) 34-20 after the break.

“I thought our effort was there,” Tigers coach Lucas Kreuscher said. “New Prague is a good team.”

Each senior scored in the game as the Tigers were paced by Alik Smed with 10 points and Kyle Ooms with eight.

The Trojans host Red Wing (16-11, 7-7 Missota) Saturday in the Section 1AAA semifinals.
