Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge Zare Zapadu No. 44 members held their meeting on March 13 at the Glenville Legion Clubroom. They enjoyed a potluck dinner, followed by the meeting, with President Jim Benesh presiding. Secretary Marie Krikava read the secretary’s report.
A letter of welcome was sent to Larry Nelson, the most recent new member. The group was happy to have him present at the meeting.
Krikava read a letter from the Minnesota 2011 state president, Deb Burnham, informing Minnesota lodges that District 4 will be hosting the Minnesota state meeting in Owatonna June 11 and 12. She is inviting all Minnesota lodges to come.
Lodge No. 44 received congratulations for achieving the Level I Award again this year. The group works hard for this.
The lodge will host the District 4 meeting on May 1 at the Brick Hall. Marcella Nelson is in charge of decorating with a May Day theme. Georgia Jech will take charge of the prizes to be given to all who attend. The meal will be catered by Conger Catering Service. Kolache and bars will be served by the members. The group hopes many will attend.
Work is progressing on the Czech Festival to be held on June 25 at the historic Brick Hall. Ten of the members held a committee meeting on both Feb. 26 and March 5 to work on plans for this celebration.
