Funeral services for Elizabeth Bertha Yost, of Alden, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mansfield Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Mansfield Lutheran Cemetery.

Elizabeth died peacefully after a short illness at the Albert Lea Medical Center on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at 94 years, 11 months and 24 days of age. Elizabeth was born to Henry and Ada (Packard) Ebert on May 1, 1916, in Albert Lea. She was a graduate of Alden High School and teachers training in Windom. She taught at the Schmidt and Guenther country schools. On June 3, 1939, she was united in marriage to Gordon Yost in Alden and together they lived on the Yost family farm. They had three daughters: Kay, Diane and Rita.

Elizabeth enjoyed involvement in the community and was an active member of the Mansfield Lutheran Church, WELCA, Martha Circle, Alden Tuesday Club, Alden Book Club and a local bridge club. She strived to be physically fit and enjoyed swimming and walking. Her daily walking became a staple for both fitness and spiritual reflection. She loved to entertain and her guests felt her genuine warmth and interest in their lives. Favorite pastimes included reading and writing in her diary.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughters: Kay Marschalk of Alden, Diane and her husband, Bob Graham, of Fridley, and Rita and her husband, Jack Korman, of Alden; grandchildren include: Kathryn Davidson of Casper, Wyo., Alex and his wife Julie Marschalk of Alden, Alan Graham of Bozeman, Mont., Elizabeth Graham, of Fridley, and Kris and her husband, David Novak, of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren: Madyson Davidson, Eva Marschalk, Zack Novak and Gordie Novak.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Ada Ebert; brothers: Veryl, Carroll and Elton; son-in-law, Bob Marschalk, granddaughter, Ann Marschalk; and grandson, Matt Korman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
