VFW Auxiliary

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary to Freemond Madson Post No. 447 met at 7 p.m. March 14 at the Legion Hall. Senior Vice President Marcia Petersen presided in the absence of President Eunice Hatleli.
The regular order of business was held according to ritual and by laws.
The charter was draped for auxiliary sister Myrtle Nelson who went to her heavenly home Feb. 18.
The auxiliary accepted 16 quilts made by the Oakland Lutheran Church sewing group. They in turn delivered them to the Minneapolis Veterans Administration hospital, which were accepted with grateful appreciation.
VFW Auxiliary Legislative Day was at the state Capitol March 29. On April 2 there was a first district testimonial dinner honoring district VFW Commander Duane Hermanson and district VFW Ladies Auxiliary President Sonia Tatge hosted by VFW Post and Auxiliary 4452 and Post and Auxiliary 141 at Cannon Falls. There was a social hour at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
June 16 through 19 will be the annual department Minnesota VFW and Auxiliary convention at the Sheridan Minneapolis south hotel in Bloomington. The group needs chairmen’s reports in by March 31 so the annual reports can be completed.
Remember the election of 2011-12 local officers will be held at the April 11 at the regular meeting. Also the delegates to the district and department conventions will be elected.
Marcia Petersen and Clara Satre served lunch. Ruby Fredrickson won the door prize. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 11 at the Legion Hall.
