You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Spring Book Readers: You can bring a story book to life this April 11-13 in the United Way of Freeborn County Spring Readers’ project. Call Ann Austin at 373-8670 to pick a school and an elementary class grades kindergarten to third and a date to read the new, locally published story, “Apples 1, 2, 3.” It’s sure to add fun to everyone’s day.
Community Mentor Connection: Children at risk are waiting for mentors who can spend some quality time (up to two hours a week) with them. The program offers training and organizes activities you can participate in together. Help make a difference in the life of a child! Call Carolyn at 379-3409 to learn more.
Habitat for Humanity: Interested in volunteering for Habitat? Fill out and send in a volunteer interest form found on www.habitataustinmn.org/volunteer.htm or simply call the office, 507-433-1349 or 1-800-300-1349. Also, check out the Habitat ReStore, filled with discounted building supplies, furniture and large appliances for sale to the general public; location: 800 7th Ave NE, Austin, MN.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
