Memorial services for Allan M. Hillman, 72, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Matt Griggs will officiate. Interment will be at East Freeborn Cemetery with military honors accorded by area veteran’s organizations. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Al died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Allan M. Hillman was born on Dec. 20, 1938, to Clayton and Arlene (Okland) Sorbo in Albert Lea. He was later adopted by Kenneth Hillman. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. Al served his country in the United States Navy from 1957-1961. He married Janet Folven in 1961, and they had three children. Al lived in Eagan and several other locations before returning to Albert Lea in 1980. Al worked in sales for Midland Coop. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, horseback riding and was a voracious reader.
Survivors include his children: Julie (Robert) Aamodt of Lake Mills, Iowa, Tracy (Tom) Thompson of Mankato and Amy (Chris) Rosenthal of Buffalo Lake; grandchildren: Aaron Aamodt and fiancé, Becky McDaniel, Cory Aamodt, Scott Aamodt, Tess and Isaac Haukoos and their father, Zane Haukoos, and Lilah Rosenthal; great-granddaughter, Kylie Hanson; brother, Paul Hillman, of Glenville; two nieces and a nephew.
Al was preceded in death by his parents.
