Therapy Dogs was the program topic when Albert Lea-Austin Chapter 469 NARFE members met April 12 at the Pizza Ranch at Albert Lea. Program presenter Jean Hendrickson explained how she visits schools and nursing homes with her therapy dog Emma to calm and relax some of those who wish to interact with Emma. It is a useful service.

During the business meeeting which followed, the NARFE members elected Jonathon Green, president; Roger Erickson, vice president; Peg Seath, secretary and Mary Lee Thompson, treasurer for the coming year. In other business, members discussed several resolutions which will be voted on at the state convention in May. President Green will be the delegate. Members also voted to give $70 to the Alzheimer’s project which is the major project for NARFE, with more than $9 million having been collected nationwide.
