Norma Kauffmann, 87, Wells

Norma Eldora Kauffmann, age 87, of Wells, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Parkview Care Center, surrounded by six sons and family. Funeral service will be held Monday, May 16, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Wells. Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Hank Whinery will officiate and burial will take place in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells.

Norma was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Blue Earth County, the daughter of Albert E. and Eliza M. (Beyer) Fratzke. She was baptized on Oct. 28, 1923, at Danville Township, and was confirmed March 27, 1937. On June 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Verne L. Kauffmann in Vivian Township, Waseca County, and later divorced.

Norma was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Women’s Mission Auxiliary, and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Wells. She worked at Lou’s Food Market, Banquet Foods and Wilson & Co. in Albert Lea. She was also a distributor for Avon, Amway and Tupperware. Norma liked to pray for others. She enjoyed garage sales, Bible study, fishing, crocheting and making prayer shawls. She also played cards, board games and bingo. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, and she loved her family dearly.

Norma is survived by six sons: Gary and Marlene Kauffmann, Gene and special friend, Kathy Schultz, James and wife, Pam, Steven and wife, Kathy, all of Wells, Paul and wife, Julie, of Forest City, Iowa, Jon and wife, Ann, of Ellsworth, Wis.; 18 grandchildren: Michael Kauffmann, Laura Love, Lenny, Faith and Randy Kauffmann, Beth Johnson, Eric and Craig Kauffmann and friend, Chelesy, Kereen Johansen, Elizabeth Brock, Aubrey Plumoff, Mandy Kauffmann, April Overbeek and Nicholas Kauffmann, Alisha, Tyler, Isaac, Caleb and Hope Kauffmann; 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; special friend John Steckelberg of Wells, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Betty Lou Jergenson and Marvel D. Berg; two granddaughters Jamie Lynn and one in infancy; and a great-granddaughter. Blessed be her memory.
