2 Rebels compete at state

ST. PAUL — Two United South Central/Alden-Conger Rebels athletes placed seventh Saturday at the Class A state track and field meet at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Hannah Goemann finished the 800-meter run in 2 minutes and 19.86 seconds, and Tony Willette threw the discus 147 feet, one inch.

Goemann finished fourth in Friday’s 800-meter run preliminaries in 2:19.37. Her final’s time was less than one-half second slower.

Kayla Huhnerkoch, of Redwood Valley, won the 800 in 2:16.16. The next five placewinners finished within one second of each other.

Willette’s final throw bested his preliminary throw by 3 feet, 4 inches, and he beat the eighth-place finishers by 2 1/2 feet.

Brian Blasey, of Ada-Borup, won the discus throw in 154 feet, 7 inches.
