Student named to honor roll
Christine Balsley, of Albert Lea was named to 2011 spring semester honor roll at Montana State University.
Local student travels to Bahamas
Brittni Lair, of Hayward, daughter of Loren and Jane Lair, was one of many Wartburg College students who learned about ecology in the Bahamas during a four-week May Term course.
The 21 students in the Bahamian Ecology course traveled to the Gerace Research Centre, on the island of San Salvador. They practiced snorkeling skills and explored coral reef and hypersaline lake environments.
Students visited the probable site of Columbus’ first landing in the New World; Green Cay, the home of the highly endangered San Salvador rock iguana; and Storr’s Lake, one of the few sites where ancient life forms called stromatolites still thrive.
