The memorial service for Constance “Connie” Hansen of Albert Lea, will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the children and youth ministries at First Presbyterian Church.

Connie died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. She was 84 years old.

Connie was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Albert Lea, to Elder I. and Sarah “Sadie” A. (Bartlett) Johnsrud. She was a graduate of the Mankato Beauty School and owned and operated Connie’s Beauty Shoppe in her home. Connie married Robert E. “Bob” Hansen on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Connie and Bob moved to southern California in 1956 and returned to Albert Lea in 1974. Connie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was involved in women’s circle and sang in the choir. Connie later became a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cross stitch, rosemaling, reading and traveling to southern California to visit family and friends.

Connie is survived by her four children: Mike Hansen and his wife, Terry, of Fallbrook, Calif.; Kris Kessel and her husband, George, of Albert Lea; Holly Stoa and her husband, Chuck, of Blue Earth; and Heidi Hamann and her husband, Bob, of Oceanside, Calif. Connie is also survived by her grandchildren: Wendy Horey and her husband, Justin; Bob Hansen and his wife, Lori; Jon Hansen; Elizabeth Froeberg and her husband, Michael; Becky Barclay and her husband, Jeremie; Debby Kessel-Tallungan and her husband, Sean; Rachel Kessel; Noah Kessel; Isaiah Kessel; Daniel Stoa and his wife, Kelli; Kjersten Lee; and great grandchildren: Jordan, Luke, Emma, Hannah, Katie, London, Connie Joy and Mara; brother: David Johnsrud and his wife, Barbara, of Owatonna.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents: Elder and Sadie Johnsrud; her husband: Bob Hansen; infant child; brother: Donald B. Johnsrud and grandson: David Lee.
