Their job is to compromise

Some politicians in St. Paul have forgotten what it means to compromise. Thank you to Democrats who have contributed two-thirds of the budget solution with budget cuts. The remaining one-third being asked by the governor but resisted by Republicans is to be made up with tax increases to only to those who can most afford them — the top 2 percent wealthiest Minnesotans.
According the Minnesota Department of Revenue, even with these additional tax increases, the wealthy at the top will still pay less than their share — less than the middle class is paying, and less than the average Minnesotan is paying.
This seems to be a common theme I don’t understand: Why is it that the some politicians must have more for the rich all the time, at the expense of everyone else? And why do some in the middle class, especially the elderly, support such actions in such a self-defeating way?
Minnesota legislators should remember they represent everyone in the state, not just the rich and powerful. Come on, Republicans, do your job.
And those of us who elect them should remember why we’re sending them there and hold them accountable. Come on, citizens of Minnesota, step it up and do your job.
