You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Red Power Event: Last call for volunteers to help selling wrist bands for shuttle bus access to the event next week. For details call Pat at RSVP/Senior Resources 377-7433.

Wheel Chair Escorts: This summer six volunteers are needed to assist wheel-chair bound residents at St. John’s Lutheran Home to enjoy the gardens, attend musical events and picnics, dining out or shopping in a store. Volunteers move the wheel chairs and dine with the residents. No driving residents to sites off campus is required. To be an escort, please call Carla, volunteer Coordinator at 473-1028.

Volunteer Driver: Help seniors maintain their independence even if they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County can always use additional driver — one day a week or several. Sometimes drivers are needed to go to Rochester or Minneapolis, but often it is just around town. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
