Group working to change ICWA

I came across Scott Schmeltzer’s article in the Indianz.com Internet newspaper and was quite surprised to see such as response to the way the Indian Child Welfare Act is used. In truth, it is the first I have read in a long time exposing how tribes use this law wrongfully. I know how the ICWA is used to hide abuse of children to save their sovereignty. They, the tribal leaders and such, like to make the outside world beleive that their children are most abused by non-tribal people. But how can this happen when the children are raised in tribal communities? I work with a group that is working hard to stop or slow down the ICWA. We are called Christan Alliance for Indian Child Welfare, PO Box 253, Hillsboro, ND 58045. Lisa Moris. Please contact her if you truly would like to help make a difference.
