Funeral services for Mary Margaret Jensen, age 77, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Mary died peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
Mary Margaret Jensen was born on March 23, 1934, to Franklin and Gladys (Farlinger) Anderson in Albert Lea. She attended Albert Lea Schools. In 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Kenneth Jensen. The couple made their home in Albert Lea raising four children. She worked as a cashier and bookkeeper for Piggly Wiggly retiring in the mid-1980s. Mary was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, doll making, crocheting and canning. Mary was a wonderful cook, gracious hostess and enjoyed opening her home to family and friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary’s kind, quiet spirit was a beautiful example to all and will live on in her family. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her children Byron and wife, Julie, Jensen of Albert Lea; Debbie and husband, Mark, Kelly of Ham Lake; and Paul Jensen of Palm Harbor, Fla.; daughter-in-law Cindy Jensen of Austin; grandchildren Michelle Jensen of Austin, Melissa Riemers of Austin, Adam and Tara Jensen of Hayward, Tracy and Jay Behrends of Albert Lea, Joe and Jen Kelly of Warren, Mich., Jackie and Chase Hippen of St. Paul, Ben Kelly and fiancé Jenny MacDonald of Blaine, Wendy Kelly of Minneapolis, Taylor and Carly Jensen of Florida and Lauren Larsen of Hopkins, great-grandchildren Haley, Hannah and Owen Kelly, Caelyn, Lael and Bergen Hippen, C.J. Nord, Kendra and Karissa Riemers, Karlee Steffanni, Journey Kinney, Skye and Mya Jensen and Laynee and Joshua Behrends; sisters Fern Materese of New York and Lois Wertz of Wisconsin; brother Henry Schlie of Twin Lakes; brother-in-law Mervin and Marcy Jensen of Brainerd; sisters-in-law Marge and Jim Hanson of Prescott, Ariz., Mary Jensen of Ft. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; son Kenwood; twin great-grandsons in infancy; sister Evelyn Hicks and half-sister Gladys; sisters and brothers-in-law Gen and Kenny Seeger, Gordy and Zella Kaasa, Lucile and Russ Hassler, Fred and Marge Jensen, Harry and Maye Jensen, Clarence Jensen and Alfred Jensen.
