Minnesota needs to be S. Dakota

Minnesota’s current Governor Shutdown sure doesn’t consider Minnesota’s state money status! Instead he wants to spend like he is a millionaire, with no need to watch current Minnesota revenue.

Our great Minnesota Legislature worked hard and passed a balanced budget with no new taxes. Governor Shutdown, millionaire, quickly vetoed the balanced budget.

Minnesota loses! And still loses. Only the governor can call back the Legislature into session, which had promised a lights on budget at 90 percent of last year’s revenue while final issues can be dealt with.

Governor Shutdown, millionaire, said no and let the state government shut down, on July 1 even though he could agree to a “lights on” budget by calling the Legislature.

The Minnesota budget in the mid-1960s was less than a billion! Our current budget revenue is $34 billion. What an increase! In the mid-’60s there was no Minnesota sales tax, and University of Minnesota’s tuition and fees were $125 a quarter! (Even today Florida and South Dakota have no state income tax.) Take note of that Governor Big Spender! Perhaps a study of South Dakota to cut and reform Minnesota government spending! Think about it!
