Musical recital held at Mayo Clinic Health System Rotunda

Cali Mower, voice; Travis Nemec, voice and piano; Kristine Volz, voice and viola; and Mitch Wood, cello, presented a musical recital at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Rotunda, Albert Lea, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29. Sharon L. Astrup-Scott, teacher and coach, was the accompanist. Some of the repertoir performed was “Cradle Song Op. 98, No.2” by Schubert sung by Mower; “Die Forelle” (The Trout) sung in German by Nemec; also “Some One” by Randall Thompson sung by Nemec; “Sunshine Again” by MacDonald (1824-905) sung by Volz; also “Concerto in G Major, Largo and Allegro movements for viola by Faure performed by Wood; two pieces for viola and cello as well as unaccompanied.

“America the Beautiful” arranged by Astrup-Scott for piano trio (piano, viola and cello). These talented musicians were appreciated by a great audience. Students of Astrup-Scott enjoy many instrumental arrangements composed by her. “Ensemble experience definitely helps a student to count rhythmically,” saod Astrup-Scott.
