Thank you to everyone who helped the first Battle of the Bands Block Party to be such a great success! Duane and Marlene at Bergdale Harley-Davidson generously allowed all of the action to take place on their site, and Merle and Brandon Krause from Marshall Street Music coordinated the action. Thank you, also, to Marshall Street Music for sponsoring the grand prize of recording time in Legacy Studios. Thank you to all of the businesses involved in the block party: Best Western Hotel, AmericInn, McDonald’s, Applebee’s, Hy-Vee and Northbridge Mall. Thank you to the Old Car Co. for sponsoring the band’s cash prize and showing off some really great cars and also John Enger, of the Community Foot Clinic, for allowing us to use your space. Thank you to the Boy Scouts for having the Cub Cars available for kids to drive. Thank you to State Bank of Clarks Grove for sponsoring the band’s cash prize. Thank you to the Albert Lea Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and KIMT for sponsoring the event. Thank you to Krieger Beverage for creating the band’s banners. Thank you to the City of Albert Lea and Environmental Services for making sure we’d have the supplies we needed to run the event. Thank you to Bill Howe for letting us use the “yellow man.” Thank you to KATE Radio, 94.9 The Breeze, Power 96-Hometown Broadcasting, The Albert Lea Tribune and The Shopper and KAAL for promoting the event. Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff members who helped to coordinate the event. Thank you to those who braved the dunk tank: Councilor John Schulte V, Ken Fluth, Lt. Jeff Strom, Rep. Rich Murray and Chuck Paczkowski. Thank you to the community members who showed up, even in the rainy weather — we hope you had a good time! And, finally, thank you to all of the band members who did such a great job: Mourning Veritas, Indiscrepancy, Riptide and Her Majesty & the Plank-Walkers. Thank you, also to the excellent guest bands: Rocket Dawgs and As the Glory Fades. You helped close out the event with great music and great energy. We all look forward to next year! Watch the United Way of Freeborn County’s website at www.unitedwayfc.org for updated information about the 2012 Battle of the Bands. Rock on!
