Mellum

Wilma Dale Mellum, of Sarona, Wis., and formerly of Hudson, Wis., passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011. She was 87.

Wilma was born in Glenville, on Feb 26, 1924, to Zelma and Carl Kalstad. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1942.

On June 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Elmer Arnold Mellum who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1996.

She was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, baptized on Nov. 11, 1976, with passion for her belief in God’s word.

She was a food server for many years. Some of the restaurants she worked at were The Highwayman and The Hudson House in Hudson, The Afton House in Afton and The Coffee Cup in Spooner, Wis..

She is fondly remembered by her family and friends as kind, warm, caring and compassionate, accepting and greeting everyone with a hug. Her kitchen always had the aroma of freshly baked cookies and cake, and was a favorite gathering place for all.

Wilma will remain in the hearts of her children: Terry Mellum of Arcadia, Fla., Rick Mellum of Tampa, Fla., Carl “Buzz” (Renee) Mellum of Corcoran and Lonny (Joy) Mellum of Fairfield, Iowa; grandchildren: Terry (Jennifer) Mellum of Eagan, Kerry Mellum of Eagan, Jerry Mellum of Arcadia, Fla., Nicole (Billy) Haynes of Fairfield, Iowa, Scott Mellum of Tampa, Fla., Mandy Mellum of North Liberty, Iowa, Alexander Mellum of Fairfield, Iowa, Emily Pothast of Corcoran and Joseph Pothast of Corcoran; great-grandchildren: Bethanie Mellum of Eagan, Mackenzie Mellum of Eagan, Tyrone Haynes, Tori Haynes, Jayden Haynes and Adler Joe Haynes all of Fairfield, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 485 Jacob Lane, Hudson, Wis., at 3 p.m. Saturday. Internment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville.
