Marlene Olson, 73, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Marlene Helen Olson of Albert Lea will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation with her family will be one hour before the service Friday, at the church.
Marlene died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. She was 73 years old.
Marlene was born June 19, 1938, in Albert Lea, to Arthur and Helen Kalis. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1957. Marlene had lived in Forest City, Iowa, where she worked as a law clerk and then moved back to Albert Lea and became a fulltime care giver for her mother for five years. She also worked at Land-O-Lakes, Armour Foods and was a fashion buyer and clerk for Herberger’s. Marlene had been a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday School and married. She married Larry Olson on May 17, 1969. Marlene enjoyed listening to the radio, keeping up with current events, growing flowers and cats. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Larry Olson, of Albert Lea; daughter, Kimberly Olson, of Wis.; brother, Ronald Kalis of Albert Lea.
Marlene is preceded in death by her grandparents; parents: Arthur and Helen Kalis; aunts and uncles.
