Savick always had a good smile

I just read the article on Kevin Savick with deep regret and sadness to hear he has a terminal illness. I feel very bad for him as I have got to know him from his collections he has built up. He had helped deliver furniture several times to our home from Brick Furniture, where he worked.
We got to talking about history and what he collected. I then showed him some of my items I had collected, in which he seemed interested. He then bought those items from me to add to his. I marveled at his enthusiasm and his interest in Freeborn County. He told me of his vast collections, and I was overwhelmed with all the things he said he collected.
He always had a good smile, and I felt he was the person to keep in touch with if I ever came across of something I thought he might be interested in.
I am glad he has taken the initiative to donate his Freeborn County collections. He has done a good deed. We all should be honored for this outstanding person to do this for the county. He will be always be remembered for it. He could have sold it and donated the money. But I am sure his collection was a better choice as some of it would be one-of-a-kind and could never be purchased from any source. Many thanks to him for what he done and accomplished in his life.
