As you are probably aware, former state representative and Albert Lea mayor Bob Haukoos passed away on Sept. 10.

Bob had a big heart and cared deeply about our community and remained active in many areas of community service despite congestive heart disease. For many years, Bob was a board member of the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Community Foundation. Greater Jobs uses the foundation for the C.E. Myers Scholarship Fund. In addition to his other activities, for the past several years Bob served on the scholarship committee.

In lieu of flowers, the Bob’s family suggested memorials to the organization and activities that Bob loved and served. In keeping with this request, Mary Jo and I are donating $50 in Bob’s name to the C.E. Myers Scholarship Fund. If you have not made a donation this year to the fund, or like us are making a second contribution as a memorial to Bob, please consider making a donation.
