Montreal soccer player arrested in Minn. airport
MINNEAPOLIS — A professional soccer player for the Montreal Impact was arrested Sunday at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, accused of shoplifting a $600 pair of headphones.
Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan says forward Mignane Diouf was arrested for allegedly trying to steal headphones from a store in the airport’s mall.
No charges have been filed, and Hogan says no court date has been set. Diouf was released and allowed to return to Montreal.
The team says it has hired a lawyer to represent Diouf and that it will not comment “until all information is gathered regarding this situation.”
The Impact, which will join MLS in 2012, was in town for a game against the Minnesota Stars, and Diouf was arrested as the team prepared to return home.
