Big Island Festival is big!

The Big Island Rendezvous & Festival will be the highlight of the weekend in Albert Lea. More than 1,000 people participate, and there is shopping and crafts for people of all ages. Continuous stage entertainment is available, and foods like kettle corn, homemade root beer and smoked turkey legs will be available, among others. Demonstrations include black powder shooting competitions, parades and more.

The Rendezvous opens at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bancroft Bay Park. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children age 6 to 11 years and free for children age 5 and under. A free shuttle is available for those who park at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

• Peanut Days, an annual Kiwanis fundraiser, will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hy-Vee, Nelson’s Market Place, Walmart and the post office. Peanuts are 2 for $1 or buy a case for $30. All proceeds benefit youth in the community.

• Albert Lea Community Theatre presents “Doubt” at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Saturday

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.

• The LakeView Lions will host a Great Eye Glass Roundup event from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Mayo Clinic Health System’s east parking lot. All used eyeglasses and hearing aids are welcome.

• The Big Island Rendezvous opens at 9 a.m. in Bancroft Bay Park. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children age 6 to 11 years or free for children age 5 and under.

• Join Lunder Lutheran Church for a salad luncheon and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under age 5.

• United Methodist Church will host a parents’ night out to fundraise for the church’s youth group. The event is from 6 to 10 p.m. and donations will be accepted. Children ages 6 to 12 are welcome, and games, snacks, movies, crafts and more will be planned.

• A sunset cruise on the Pelican Breeze II is planned for 6:30 p.m. The cruise costs $22 and includes several selections of hot soups, sandwiches and a beverage. A cash bar for beer, wine and soft drinks will be available. Call 507-383-2630 for reservations.
