Eight sophomore members of the Albert Lea High School Choral program will represent Albert Lea at the Minnesota American Choral Directors Association Men and Women’s Choral Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29. They will join with more than 1,000 other high school and collegiate singers to present a concert at St John’s Abbey on the campus of St John’s University at 4:30 p.m. The men and women each rehearse four pieces separately and also one combined number. The day is spent in rehearsal and listening to collegiate men and women’s choruses perform in the Abbey.

The concert choir of ALHS has been selected as one of the featured choirs at the Minnesota State University Choral Festival on Thursday, Nov. 3. The students will join selected octets from surrounding communities to rehearse three mass choir pieces during the day under the direction of Dr. David Dickau, Director of Choral Activities at MSU. The day will culminate with a concert at 7:30 p.m. at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in downtown Mankato featuring the Litchfield High School Concert Choir, Joel Green, director, ALHS Concert Choir, MSU Chamber Singers, MSU Concert Choir, and the massed choir. Tickets are available at the door and are $9 for adults and $6 for students. The next evening, Nov. 4, the choir students will present their fall home concert at Grace Lutheran Church at 6 and 8 p.m. in Albert Lea.
