Lindsey Horejsi set new pool mark, too

Karli Kriewall is beginning to peak at the most opportune time of the season.

Just one week after nearly toppling her school record of 224 points with a 222-point performance against Rochester Century, the junior blew her top mark with a 255 1/2-point performance Thursday at Winona.

Not only did the six dives set a team record for the Tigers but it was also a Winona pool record.

Albert Lea (5-4) extended their season road winning streak to five with the 98-88 decision over the Winhawks.

Lindsey Horejsi also continued her dominance in the water this season.

The eighth-grader picked up a win in pool-record fashion in the 100-yard breaststroke. Horejsi covered the distance in one minute and 6.73 seconds.

She was also a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. Horejsi, along with Anna Anderson, Galen Schulz and Morgan Field conquered the sprint distance in 1:43.48.

Horejsi’s other individual win came in the 200 individual medley, touching the wall in 2:13.90. Field pulled in for a third-place finish in the event with a 2:29.55.

Schulz took second place in both of the night’s short events. Her second place in the 50 freestyle was a result of a 26.09 finishing time. In the 100 freestyle she finished second in 57.30.

Haley Simon picked up another Tigers’ second-place in the 500 freestyle. The eighth-grader pushed her way through the distance event in 6:03.69.

Anderson placed second in the other distance event. She completed the 200 freestyle in 2:08.50.

Bailey Sandon was the final Tiger to touch the wall with a second-place finish. She completed the task in the 100 backstroke with a 1:09.51.

The Tigers will look for their first home win of the season Tuesday against Rochester John Marshall. Albert Lea will have their work cut out for them as John Marshall boasts a 10-0 record this season.
