P.M. Report: Man allegedly attempts to steal generator

A man is being held in the Freeborn County jail on multiple allegations after police received a call Monday night alleging someone was attempting to steal a generator off of a trailer at 313 W. Main St.

According to police, the call came in at about 10:45 p.m.

Jorge Luis Acosta Valdes, 45, is being held on attempted felony theft, second-degree gross misdemeanor DWI, test refusal, possession of burglary tools and a probation violation stemming from the incident.

Luis Mariano Reyes, 56, was cited for aiding and abetting.

 

Burning ban lifted in Winnebago County

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa announced Monday afternoon it had lifted its open burning ban. The county had been under a burning ban since Oct. 5.

 

2 cited for theft

Police cited Ryan Lee Donahue, 37, and Molly Jean Easley, 28, for misdemeanor theft from Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave. at 7:14 p.m. Monday. According to reports, Donahue was allegedly taking items from the store and Easley was returning them without the receipts.

 

Items taken from vehicle

A vehicle at 323 E. Third St. was reported broken into at 11:36 a.m. Monday. Items were reported taken.
