A St. Paul man facing a first-degree drug charge on Monday pleaded not guilty to his allegations in Freeborn County District Court.
The public defender for Justin Tyler Truong, 26, requested a speedy jury trial for his client, who remains in the Freeborn County jail on unconditional bail of $100,000.
The date for the trial has not yet been set.
According to court documents, Truong was allegedly found with 2 ounces of methamphetamine in his truck during a traffic stop in August on Interstate 35 near the border of Freeborn and Steele counties.
Documents state when Truong was pulled over, he was reportedly shaking and acting nervous about the stop. When he was told he would only be getting a warning for a lane-change violation, his nervousness did not subside, but instead reportedly got worse.
As this continued, the trooper began asking additional questions, which Truong was not able to answer, according to reports.
The trooper eventually searched the vehicle.
