ALDEN — Students will present a comedic murder mystery that will keep the audience guessing whodunit?

Not only is the show sure to entertain people of all ages, audience members will have the option to enjoy dinner theater. The show, “An Inconvenient Corpse,” takes place at a luncheon for the Ladies of the Deep South. In it the guest of honor dies suddenly, and the characters hide him while discussing their options.

“The rest of the play the ladies try to figure out what happened,” seventh-grader Miranda Theusch, who plays Gert Hoppelmeyer, said.

The play is directed by Ada Theusch, choir instructor at Alden-Conger, and Pam Koenen, agriculture instructor, is the assistant director. Theusch said she liked the play because there are fun characters.

“The characters in it are really interesting and distinct,” Theusch said.

Students in the sixth-grade or above could try out for the play or be on the stage crew. In all there are 18 students in the cast and nine on the stage crew. Other students will also be waitresses during the dinner and will be dressed in costumes.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Nov. 4 and 5 before the show for those who choose, but people can come to the show only that starts at 7 p.m. Cost for dinner and the show is $11 for adults and $9 for seniors and students. Without dinner to just see the show the cost is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and students.

Tables will be set up in the gym in front of the stage and the menu planned includes pulled pork sandwiches, salads and more. The Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. has no meal beforehand.

The show will also be the first on the newly-renovated stage floor. Theusch said Dave’s Floor Refinishing replaced the stage floor this summer.

The play is sure to entertain while characters and audience members alike try to figure out if the dinner guest was murdered. It could have been June, the scatter-brain, Dolly, the boss, Mirium, the over-emotional home economics teacher, the mayor or even the snooping newspaper reporter but people will just have to show up to find out.
