Funeral services for Maria Sanchez Navarro, 93, formerly of Hollandale will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Swaminatha Pothireddy will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home with a rosary service at 6:45 p.m. presided by Rita Muñiz. Maria went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Elk City, Okla.
Maria Sanchez Navarro was born on July 1, 1918, in McGargle, Texas, to Hermedehilda Garcia Sanchez and Aniceto Sanchez. In 1939 she married Victor Navarro in Eagle Pass, Texas. They led a nomadic life until settling in Hollandale. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her passing has left a deep void in the lives of her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Alfonso (Karen) Navarro of Rochester, Josephina (Jesus) Treviño of Elk City, Okla., Leonardo (Judy) Navarro of Roseville, Juan (Rosa) Navarro of Albert Lea, Ramon (Teresa) Navarro of Rochester, Arturo (Teresa) Navarro of Rochester, David Navarro (Jyl Eppard) of Kasson and Richard Navarro (Melinda Dyrdahl) of Albert Lea; sisters: Antonia Sanchez of Eagle Pass, Texas, Michaela Velez of Albert Lea, Maria Nieves Cardona of Albert Lea and Amancia Garza of Uvalde, Texas; many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Maria was preceded in death by, her parents; husband, Victor; sons: Ricardo and Robert (Deby); brothers: Jose, Concepcion and Teofilo; and sister, Simona.
