Students and adults worked together during pie fundraiser

Do you love the sweet aroma of fresh apple pie?
I smelled that exquisite aroma on Oct. 15 all day long. My school was holding a pie fundraiser to raise money for our school, Hollandale Christian School. The day before, my teacher and a few other moms and friends of our school made over 1,600 dough balls!

Then on Saturday, my mom and I went to school to make some pies. As soon as I arrived at school I began to roll pie crust. Another job I had was to fill the pies with apples, cinnamon and sugar. Part of the time I helped carry pies to a freezer truck, which chilled the pies. It was quite a process.
All together we used 525 pounds of flour and 350 pounds of sugar. Can you believe that? It took 35 minutes to make 100 pies! This was accomplished with the help of about 35 adults and 12 kids.
Our goal was to make 750 pies. By the time we were finished we had made 770 pies. The pie fundraiser started at 7 a.m. and ended at 2:30 p.m. It was a memorable day that I’ll never forget. It was great to see so many people working together for Hollandale Christian School.
