You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
St. John’s Lutheran Home: It’s the holiday season at St. John’s! Four volunteers are needed to help with escorting residents for activities and events on site during November and December. Plan to help with one event or with several; it means so much to the residents. Dates and times vary, so you and a friend can fit St. John’s into your schedule many ways. Call Carla at 473-1028.
Arc: Help cook and serve the annual soup and chili supper on Nov. 21. Volunteers are needed throughout the day beginning with a 9 a.m. shift to prepare celery, stir the simmering pots and setting tables from noon to 3:30 p.m. and between 4 to 7:30 p.m. serve and clean up. Please call for Jo at ARC 377-3469 to volunteer.
Salvation Army Food Pantry: You can help nourish families and individuals in Freeborn County by volunteering at The Salvation Army Food Pantry. Two volunteers are needed from 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays to help with food boxes of about 25 pounds; whole grain breads, fresh fruits and vegetables are added to each prepared box. Come try it out by shadowing another helper. You can set a schedule for Mondays or Fridays that works for you or offer to be an on-call helper. Please call Angie at The Salvation Army 373-8776.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
