Eva Alvina Schewe Martin, 92, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at United Hospital Blue Earth.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Emerald Township, rural Blue Earth, with the Rev. Wesley Hafner, officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Emerald Township. Visitation time will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St., in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Eva was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Blue Earth Township, Faribault County, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Haase) Shewe. She attended District 19 country school and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1938. She worked as a secretary at the A.S.C. office until her marriage to Elmer R. Martin on April 12, 1940. As a youth she was active in 4-H, church youth group and choir, where she held many offices. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Immanuel Lutheran church in Emerald Township where she was a lifelong member. When her children were growing up she was a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher for 16 years, was an active member of the Ladies Aide, officer of the PTA and county extension. She loved to crochet and was an avid quilter. Eva and Elmer wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for 20 years, where they golfed a lot.

She leaves to mourn three daughters: Jean (Arlen) Prescher, of Albert Lea, Sharon (Ed) Hannaman, of Blue Earth, and Gayle (David) Classon of Blue Earth; her son, Garry Martin (special friend Carol Spencer) of Blue Earth; her sisters-in-law: Thelma Schewe of Blue Earth, Mertice Martin of Winnebago, and Elvera Kabe of Alber Lea; nine grandchildren: Brenda Prescher (special friend Dave Roisen), Laurie Falk, Troy Prescher (special friend Janelle Vanengelenburg), Kelli Hannaman (fiancée Randy Meyers), Chad Hannaman, Dustin Martin (special friend Norma Overbaugh), Tina (Reed) Allis, Jenny (Shad) Evenson and Karrie (Jeremy) Olson; and seven great-grandchildren: Jordan Prescher, Hunter Evenson, Jake Evenson, Logan Olson, Landon Olson, Will Allis and Ruby Allis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, in 2007; two sisters; three brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Martin.
