Devotions were given by Marion Drescher who spoke on the Reformation, Martin Luther and also how the women of the church have taken a more active part in the activities of the church.

Jinni Olson introduced Alice Hoist who entertained the group with two lovely musical selections which were enjoyed by everyone. She was accompanied by Lilah Aas.

Olson also introduced Clemencia Gujral who presented the program “A Fun Lession in Yoga” which was enjoyed by the entire group. Four women of the FLCW group: Shirlie Brownlow, Rhoda Knudson, Bonnie Trampel and Jinni Olson assisted Gujral in the presentation and the entire group participated in the program.

Following the program Moine continued with the business meeting:

Secretary’s report: The report was presented and upon motion by Lorraine Bakken, seconded by Neva Mathison the minutes will be placed in file.

Treasurer’s report: The rreasurer’s report was presented by Marcia Habben and will be placed on file for audit.

Corresponding secretary: Lois Jensen reported that she had a newsletter from Lutheran World Relief and also from Cross of Glory Church advertising their soup and pie evening Nov. 2 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.; tickets are $7 for adults, $4 from ages 4 to 10 and under 4 they will eat free.

Old Business: Jan Overgaard asked about the funds FLCW has in their savings account and if the group had determined where to spend these funds. Moine stated that a portion of these funds will be used to help decorate the parlor, however, this is only a portion of the remodeling project. Overgaard also asked where the funds are to be used from Holidays Ahead and these funds are always given to our missionaries, however, the group usually maintain $500 for the following year — the group will have Beth Doyle give a more detailed report next month.

New Business: Friends at First would meet at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 18 in Bethany Hall. Mark Light would present an update on the new south entrance and garage project and answer any questions. Marlene Behle asked if anyone would be willing to make frozen desserts or apple or pumpkin desserts for Holidays Ahead — she has sheets made up for volunteers to sign up as the group is needing help to make this project a success. Coffee begins at 8 to 10 a.m. and then the group needs to help get ready for the luncheon. The group expects 250 people to attend.

Also regarding Holidays Ahead Habben asked that anything for the Used A Bit shop be left at the church between Nov. 9 and 16 as it is a big job to mark all these items. Jewelry is also needed at the Used a Bit shop or things you have made at home. The group is also in need of co vice-presidents for the coming year — please consider making this commitment.

Caring and Sharing: It was reported that there were three funerals served in September. Co-Chairs: Mathison and Moine. Moine thanked Unit III Co-Chairs: Virginia Hermanson and Helen Lovik and their Committee: Marilyn Chafee, Audrey Christensen, Donna Henrikson, Kathy Olson, Arlis Smith and Maxine Wignes for the lovely luncheon.
