Here are highlights in history for Dec. 14, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — First place honors for the annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest went to Wayne and Diane Schlosser of rural Manchester and their 10,500 light display.
1983 — The weather station at the Albert Lea waste water treatment plant southeast of the city reported 5 inches of snow at 8 a.m. However, the snow was continuing to fall up the Tribune’s press time at noon.
