Tubbs Chiropractic and the Albert Lea City Arena recently donated to “The Beat Goes On,” to put an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in the city arena for the first time.

“The Beat Goes On,” a fundraiser, is a $327,000 effort to raise money for crucial, cutting-edge cardiac care equipment for area first responders and ambulance services, cardiology and cardiac rehab departments at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. The fund-raiser includes placing 30 AEDs with city, county and township first responders as well as at the city arena and the Albert Lea Family Y.

“Having AEDs located throughout Freeborn County will save lives in the event of a cardiac arrest,” says Brad Niebuhr, emergency department director at Mayo Clinic Health System. “Restarting a heart within three minutes increases the survival rate of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest from three to five percent to 70 percent. Having these readily available in our communities is essential.”
