MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota Libraries are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible with a series of exhibits and events.

“The Word Made Flesh” exhibit is now open and runs through Feb. 24, 2012. It features examples of biblical texts, medieval manuscripts and facsimiles from the University Libraries’ special collections.

Among the highlights are two leaves from the 42-line Gutenberg Bible; the original New Testament portion of the King James Bible; and other early printings such as the Geneva Bible and the “Breeches” Bible.

A traveling exhibit, “Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James Bible,” will be installed from Jan. 25 through Feb. 15, 2012.

The exhibits are free and open to the public on the fourth floor of Wilson Library.
