Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge No. 44 met at the Glenville Legion on Dec. 4 for their Christmas party and annual meeting. The group began with a delicious potluck dinner at noon.
Following the dinner President Jim Benesh opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Marie Krikava read the minutes of the last meeting and Treasurer Jim Becker gave the treasurer’s report.
Krikava passed out the 2012 meeting and event calendar, which was discussed. The group plans to have its pancake breakfast and bake sale benefit in September in 2012.
They want to thank Evelyn Svenson for the wreath she purchased and placed on the Wooden Hall monument for the winter.
The group held election of officers: President Jim Benesh; Vice President Georgia Jech; Secretary Marie Krikava; Treasurer Jim Becker and Marcella Nelson; Trustees Emil Prantner, Dale Lukes, Dennis Rayman and Evelyn Svenson.
Members turned in their hours of Fraternal and Community Service for the year, needed for the secretary’s year end reports.
Members brought many pounds of food for the Salvation Army Food Shelf and items for the Ronald McDonald House Wish List. Dennis and Gail Rayman will deliver the food to the food shelf, and Evelyn Svenson will deliver the items to Rochester to the Ronald McDonald House.
Members also brought can tabs which they save all year for the Ronald McDonald House, and eye glasses and soup labels for various projects.
Fruit plates were assembled and delivered to shut-ins by lodge members. The visiting that goes with the gift is most rewarding.
The group voted to make a donation to the WFLA Scholarship Fund from part of the proceeds of its pancake breakfast. Following the meeting they played Dirty Bingo.
