Why Christians rejoice at Christmas

Nowadays it has become another holiday where materialism and money seems to rule. Now, we will remember why we begin celebrating on this Christmas Day. It is the day that God sent his son, Jesus, to live on this earth. It is Jesus’ birthday. The shepherds came to see Jesus and the wise men brought him gifts. The beginning of gift giving. It is the day of love and being together.

I went shopping last week, looking for a musical water globe with the Nativity scene on it. Last year I could buy them. This year there is nothing. There are no signs of the real Christmas. What has happened to the true meaning of why we celebrate Dec. 25? Maybe we should stop and think why Jesus came to earth. All God asks us to do is love one another from the rich to the poor. Not what we have, but who we are and how we live our life here on earth. Now some people want to take Christ out of the holiday. The reason that we celebrate this day all started with the birth of Jesus the Christ. That is why it is not just another holiday. It is Christmas!

I know that there are some people who do not believe in God. That is their choice. The people who do believe in God need to stand up for what we believe in and need to do our part to keep Christ in our lives.

Merry Christmas!
