Arlene Williamson, 86, Glenville

Funeral services for Arlene Ruth Williamson, age 86, of Glenville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. Jim Rushton will officiate. Arlene died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at her home.

Arlene Ruth Williamson was born on Aug. 24, 1925, to Robert and Anna (Lau) Ewald on the family farm in Iowa. She grew up in the St. Ansgar and Osage area until the family moved to a farm outside of Glenville. Arlene attended rural schools in Mona, Iowa, and Glenville and attended Albert Lea High School. On Dec. 7, 1943, she married Kenneth Williamson at Rev. Offenhauser’s home outside of Glenville. Arlene and Kenny lived in the Glenville area, and Arlene had various jobs, in a factory, as a bank teller and secretary. She retired from Hudson Foods in 1987. Arlene was a member of First Lutheran Church in Glenville where she was active in the First Lutheran Church Women and served as treasurer, and also secretary of the Mary Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Women of Today, VFW Auxiliary, Greenwood Cemetery Association, Solo & Singles Group and Glenville American Legion Auxiliary where she served as treasurer. She loved traveling with Kenny to every state in the U.S. In her spare time, Arlene was an avid reader, she enjoyed camping, jigsaw puzzles and word searches, sewing and especially getting together with family and friends for coffee and visiting.

Survivors include her daughter, Pam Ethen; granddaughter, Dawn (Brad) Scholz; grandson, Cory Bremer and friend Missy; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel, Michael and Gage; sisters, Laurie (Bob) Berg and Marilyn Grasdalen; brother, Glenn (Eleanor) Ewald; and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth, son, David, grandchildren, Richard and Angela Bremer, sister, Maxcene (Fremont) Henle; brothers-in-law, Paul Grasdalen, Harold “Hap” Williamson, George (Donna) Williamson and Bernard Williamson; sister-in-law, Marge (Lloyd) Jorgenson; mother and father-in-law, Lose and Zelpha Williamson; and son-in-law, Francis Ethen.
