Arthur DeNeui, 96, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Arthur (Art) J. DeNeui of Albert Lea, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, Clarks Gove. The Rev. Jamie Cameron will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.

Arthur died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in Albert Lea. He was 96 years old.

Arthur DeNeui

Arthur (Art) J. DeNeui was born in George, Iowa, on Dec. 10, 1915, the son of George and Minnie (Ackerman) DeNeui. He graduated from George High School in 1935. He graduated from the Northwestern Evangelical Bible School and Seminary on May 28, 1941, and was ordained into the gospel ministry on Feb. 3, 1942. Even though he never used the title, he went on in his studies to earn his doctorate.

He married Doris A. (Lindberg) on June 4, 1940. Three children were born to this couple: Joel Arthur, Bette Doreen and Paul George.

Arthur served the Rossie and Greenville, Iowa, churches as a student pastor, then served churches in Humbolt, Iowa, Albert Lea, Minot, N.D., Des Moines, Iowa, and Hawarden, Iowa. He led the Des Moines congregation while building a new church building. During these years he served in various state and national American Baptist Boards and as president of the Minnesota American Baptists churches. After 40 years of continuous service as a pastor he retired in April of 1981 and moved to Albert Lea where he substituted for churches who needed a pastor. He also served several interim pastorates.

Throughout his life he enjoyed many, many hobbies. He and his wife had a great time taking several bus trips. Arthur was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Doris, and children Joel (Jackie) DeNeui of Blue Earth, Bette (Doug) Jenson of Albert Lea, Paul (Ann) DeNeui of Gore, Okla., 10 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, sisters, Darlene (Ken) Harms, Mickey (Darrell) Arneson, and one brother, Clifford.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Minnie DeNeui, one brother, Alvin, and two sisters, Grace (in infancy) and Viola. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
