Barbara Ruble, 87, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Barbara Wayne Ruble, of Albert Lea, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be later at Arlington National Cemetery.

Barbara died peacefully on Dec. 29, 2011, at the age of 87. Her children and grandchildren from five states traveled to be with her and surround her with comfort and love. She was born to Obell and Evelyn Wayne on Dec. 15, 1924, in Albert Lea.

Barbara graduated from Albert Lea Central High School in 1942 and remained life long friends with a group of friends nicknamed the “Hells Angels.”

On July 14, 1946, she married 2nd Lt. Richard Ruble, a recently commissioned officer from West Point, at the First Baptist Church. As a military wife, Barbara accompanied Richard around the world, including posts in 10 states, Japan and Germany.

Barbara is survived by six children: Laura (Rich) Hummel of Bethesda, Md., Patricia Ruble of Alexandria, Va., David (Tomomi) Ruble of Minneapolis, Janet (Russell) Fystrom of Edina, Richard (Sally) Ruble of Woodbury, and Barbara Ruble (fiance Robert Stark) of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren: Martha (fiance Scott Boe), Amelia, Charles, Nicholas, Kaylee, Nicholas; sisters: Margaret (Robert) Johnson of Albert Lea, and Helen (Howard) Sauer of Faribault; many nieces, nephews and friends.
