Deputies help children shop

On Dec. 18, 2011, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office helped 18 local children do their Christmas shopping. This was the third and most successful year so far for the program.
We would like to thank all the people who donated to the program with their money or their time. The children were picked from the three local Winnebago County school districts. They met with their parents at Pamida and shopped with the deputies, reserve deputies and the Pamida staff. The children ranged in age from 6 to 11 years old.
It was a wonderful experience for my staff and me. I personally would like to give a special thank you to Pamida for all their extra time and effort.
