Halverson and Lakeview elementary schools had a special visitor on Dec. 19 and 20. Ryan Sloth, an author, football player, coach and actor, paid these schools a visit to share some of his experiences. Writing two books, playing football for the Iowa State University Cyclones and being an extra in several blockbuster movies were some of the memories he shared.

He read his two children’s picture books, “Sammy Sloth Sports Superstar” and “Sammy Sloth’s Big Tourney” and shared the connections between the text and his real life experiences. The main message Ryan wanted the students to take away from his visit was that it can be easy to write about things you know and love and that everyone is capable of being an author.

The schools want to thank SPIRIT and L.E.S.O., Halverson and Lakeview’s parent organizations, for making this visit possible.
