John Fadden, 63, of Chula Vista, Calif.

After a courageous year-long battle with cancer, John E. Fadden passed away surrounded by his family in Chula Vista, Calif., on Dec. 20, 2011.

John was born June 8, 1948, in Avoca, Pa., and raised in Newark, N.J., he was the first of nine children born to Thomas and Anna Marie Fadden. He was united in marriage to Carmell Munson on May 15, 1968.

John had a successful 26-year career with the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician Chief Senior. After his retirement in 1996 he entered federal civilian service with the U.S. Border Patrol in San Diego Sector. His current duty station was at Field Support Southern California’s Pogo Row Facility in San Diego, Calif. FTO Fadden was the technical Subject Matter Expert in southern California for 15 years.

John will be remembered by his wife, children Christina (Kristin), Garrison, Jennifer (Troy), Nicholas (Anna) and Anthony, grandchildren Amanda, Benjamin, Cameron, Danielle, Thomas, Malcolm, Josephine, Jacob, Hannah, Shelby and Gavin all of San Diego, Calif., his brothers Thomas (Anita), of North Carolina, Dominic (Claire), of California, Leo, and Paul (Lorna), of California, sisters Mary Theresa (Robert), of California, Anna Marie (Richard), of New Jersey, Sarajuan (Scott), of California, mother-in-law Elaine Munson, brothers-in-law Van (Laura) Munson, Steve (Diane) Munson, Jon Munson and sister-in-law Kathy (Len) Carter all of Albert Lea, along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. John loved spending time with his family, playing and watching sports and building on his model railroads.

He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia and his parents and father-in-law Casper Munson.
