Maxine Westrum, 88, Wells

Maxine Ann Westrum, 88, of Wells, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate and burial will take place in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.

Maxine was born March 14, 1923, in Wells, the daughter of August and Clara (Kulla) Schultz. She attended Maple Grove Country School and St. Casimir School. On June 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lynn Westrum at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. She was a homemaker, a mother of two, a grandmother of one, and a great-grandmother of two. She enjoyed touring the country on motorcycle, gardening and flowers. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and St. Casimir Catholic Church.

Maxine is survived by her two sons: Bob Westrum of Emery, S.D., and Chuck Westrum of Brighton, Colo.; grandson, Jake Westrum of Yankton, S.D.; great-granddaughters: Aliza Jo Westrum and Jolie Lynn Westrum of Yankton, S.D.; brothers: Arnold Schultz and Marvin (Kathy) Schultz; sisters: Loretta Brummer, Teresa Oelke, Lorraine Horvat and Jean Ann (Dean) Clarke; sister-in-law, Sharon Schultz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Rand Westrum, on April 24, 2005; brothers: Mike Schultz and James Schultz; her parents: August and Clara; brothers-in-law: Phillip Brummer, Wayne Oelke and John Horvat; sister-in-law, Edith Schultz.
