One Act Play to hold dress rehearsal, open to public

Albert Lea High School’s entry in the south sub-sectional one-act play competition is “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde. The cast includes Matt Attig as Jack Worthing, Nick Bera as Algernon Moncrieff, Claire Buendorf as Lady Bracknell, Stephi Falk as Gwendolen Fairfax, Claire Ellis as Cecily Cardew, Emma Behling as Miss Prism, Duncan Kromminga as Rev. Chasuble, Sergio Salgado as Lane, Jordan Vano as Merriman, and Matt Bera, Solveig Lange, Julia Otten and Tanner Shaft as attendants. Student directors are Alex Janke and Gretta Johnson and lighting technician is Mallorie Gil. John Fure is the set designer/technical director with Lilah Aas as the director. The public is invited to attend an open dress rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Albert Lea High School auditorium at no change.

The sub-sectional competition will take place at Albert Lea High School beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. The performance schedule for Friday is: 4 p.m. Kasson-Mantorville; 4:45 p.m. Albert Lea; 5:45 p.m. Austin; and 6:30 p.m. Winona. Two schools will advance to the section finals which will be held on Feb. 2 at Lakeville South High School. The competition is also open to the public at no cost.
