Albert Lea might set a record temperature today.
The record for Jan. 5 is 46, set in 1930. The high forecast for today in Albert Lea by the National Weather Service is 50. KIMT-TV forecasts a high of 47, while other TV forecasters are saying 48 and 49.
If today is anything like Wednesday, the warmest time of today should be around 4 p.m. Clouds moved in at about that time Wednesday, when it was 36 degrees, trapping in much of the heat of the day. It was still 36 degrees in Albert Lea at 11 p.m.
The air temperature at 7 a.m. today was 28 degrees. With the clouds parting this morning, the bright sunshine pretty much can pick up today from where it left off at sunset Wednesday, making the mercury rise to record levels.
